Why it exists
There is no off-the-shelf record pool software. Pools end up stitching a file-download plugin to a membership plugin and hoping the two agree about who may download what. BeatKeep was built to replace that stack on a working pool, and it runs one today.
BeatKeep
Free and GPL. No licence key.
Access by folder
Point BeatKeep at a folder tree on your server and choose which membership levels open which folders. Subfolders inherit.
Files stay private
Every download is checked against the member’s level and handed out on a short-lived signed link. The web server sends the bytes (X-Sendfile), so big files don’t tie up PHP.
Stripe memberships
Subscriptions, one-time payments and free trials, on your own Stripe account. A sign-up form takes the payment and creates the account.
Previews
Visitors hear a 30-second clip of each track; members hear all of it. Video previews too.
Browse and search
Folder pages with preview and download buttons, and a search that only finds what the member can open.
Sign in with Google
Optional: members can register and sign in with their Google account.
BeatKeep Pro
An add-on for BeatKeep. GPL too: the licence key buys updates and support, and never switches a feature off.
Download queue
Members queue tracks and folders and download them one after another.
A separate download server
Serve files and folder zips from your storage box while WordPress runs elsewhere, with the same access checks.
Packs and coupons
Sell a folder on its own, and give members discount codes.
Release schedule and emails
Open folders on a date or drip them to new members, and email members what’s new in what they can open.
Limits and anti-sharing
Download limits per day and per 30 days, device and network limits, and the member’s code stamped into each download’s name and MP3 tags.
Crates and track tags
Members save tracks to crates and filter by BPM, key and version (clean, dirty, intro), from file names or ID3 tags.
Download analytics
Downloads per day, top folders, files and members, with a CSV export.
Importers
Move over from Restrict Content Pro and WP File Download without changing either.
Status
Not released yet
BeatKeep runs in production on a live record pool. The Pro features above are written and tested, and ship with the launch. Neither plugin is available to download yet: the free plugin will be listed on WordPress.org when BeatKeep Pro launches, and prices will be published then.
